Many real estate lock boxes are used through the industry of foreclosures as well as apartment and home sales. One of the more prominent lock boxes is produced by a company called ShurLok. This particular brand is able to house up to six house keys in a storage compartment inside of it that is protected by a four digit code. Designed with a shackle bolt, it can hang off of many things near or on the house including a fence, railing, or even the doorknob. Most real estate companies use this lock box as a way to keep the keys to a building in one place. That way multiple agents can show a building off to potential buyers without having multiple keys floating between people and companies. This greatly increases the security of the house.

The ShurLok real estate lock box has been gaining some fame lately because of some instructional videos that have been put onto YouTube showing how to change the combinations on them. These videos are visual versions of the directions that come with the product. This allows customers to change the code on their lock box to increase their own building’s security.
